Good News and Bad
The good news is that we have been approved for the pool and pool house addition to the existing property. The bad news is that Lillie’s Pad is being held up over a setback issue. I had noticed the setback in question, and I brought it to Dave’s attention a couple of weeks ago. Dave assured me that the setback was in accordance with the information that he had. It is entirely possible that Dave is correct. It is also possible that this is a quirk that the City has that is different from other areas, and we will have to make adjustments.Â
I updated Bill on our situation, and he was very reassuring. Since the difference in what we have and what they think we should have is only five feet, he doesn’t feel that it would be necessary to make any huge changes. Evidently it is common for the government to allow an administrative variance of ten percent. This would get us four of the five feet to meet the setback. We could easily take the one remaining foot from the dining room of house without creating any issues in the function of the space.Â
I am waiting returned calls from both Dave and the City. It will be interesting to see how this develops.

The picture above is a plan view of the proposed site. Although we have already made some changes to this, it is a good sketch of what we have in mind. There are additional pages tacked around the rendering showing the products that we are considering using. The drawing was done by Dave Skillen of Bradford and Associates. The existing house is to the left of the plan, the pool and pool house are together near the middle top, and Lillie’s Pad is to the right of the plan.
